Friday July 31 – Sunday August 2, 2015
The Front Range Riders of Fort Collins, Colorado is proud to present the Fifth Annual Moose Run Dual Sport Rally to be held in Walden, Colorado July 31 – August 2, 2015 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. This is an AMA sanctioned event. There will be dual sport rides for riders of all levels.
There will be three different trail loop options depending on bike and skill level of riders. All rides are very scenic and offer the rider a great opportunity to explore the North Park area of Colorado. All loops will have a prescribed loop for Saturday rides and a different, shorter ride for Sunday.
Mostly single track trails and some road riding to access the trail systems. This loop is best for advanced/intermediate riders with plated dirt bikes. 250cc-450cc machines are recommended for these trails (especially if you are an intermediate rider), but some advanced/expert riders will be able manage on 650cc bikes. Anything bigger than 650cc is definitely not advised.
Will consist of easier single track trails, fire roads, mountain trails, dirt roads and some paved road riding to access trail systems. This loop is best for larger plated dirt bikes and smaller dual sports (xr650, klx650, klr650, xr400, dr650, etc.) Riders should possess at least intermediate skill level.
Perfect for smaller and larger dual sports. (BMW gs1200/1100’s, KTM 990 adventure, KTM 950 enduro/adventure, KLR650, XR650 etc) This ride will include a little more paved road riding, but will also have a lot of dirt road, fire road, easier trail systems. This route is very scenic and provides a great riding adventure through North Park Colorado region. It is still advised that riders possess at least intermediate skill level as road and trail conditions vary.
D Loop- *New This Year!*
The Saturday D route takes riders 225 paved miles through spectacular scenery. The ride includes three passes and transits of North and Middle Park. Several lunch opportunities are possible along the way ranging from fast food to Gourmet. We will be encouraging riders to form groups of no more than four or five to avoid traffic hassles and that oh so icky “cattle drive” feel. Relaxing, scenic, good food, what more could you ask for? For the Sunday D ride we will work with riders to discover “the long way Home” through more Colorado and Wyoming scenery.
The registration site/base of operations will be at the Jackson County Fairgrounds/Wattenburg Center in Walden Colorado (40.744181 N – 106.270569 W), located north of Walden on Route 125 next to the Jackson County Airport. At the fairgrounds participants will have access to bathrooms and drinking water, free tent camping and free RV, trailer, and fifth wheel parking (no hook ups). There will be an available mid route fuel site for trail riders (price not yet determined). Registration also includes T shirt and a catered meal on Saturday afternoon.
